Stockbridge Mayor & Council Presents Several Acknowledgments!

Presentations for Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, Stockbridge High School Football Team, and Eagle's Landing Christian Academy Football Team.
 

1) City Proclamation presented for Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday Celebration, accepted by Henry County NAACP President, Mr. Eugene Edwards.

WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. devoted his life to the advancement of civil rights and public service. He believed in a nation of freedom and justice for all, and challenged all citizens to
help build a more perfect union and to live up to the purpose and potential of America.

WHEREAS, in 1994, Congress initiated the King... Day of Service, a nationwide effort to transform the federal holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. into a day of community service, grounded in Dr. King’s teachings, that helps solve social problems; and,

WHEREAS, this day focuses on bringing people together and breaking down the barriers that have divided us as a nation.


2) City Proclamation presented for National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, accepted by Bishop Michael Strickland of Victory Tabernacle Church International.

WHEREAS, the National Human Trafficking Awareness Day started in 2011 through President Obama’s declaration of January as the National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month; and since then, is observed annually through the help of various non-government organizations.


3) Letter of Commendation presented to Stockbridge High School Football Team, 2016 4AAAAA Region Champions.

Whereas this honorable body commends rare athletic achievement, and gives special honor and commendation to those athletic teams who pursue such excellence that they become examples for the youth of this community.

Once again, the Stockbridge High School Tigers continue to make us proud! The 2016 season was magical, going on a 13-0 run and finishing the season at 13-1; hailing as Region Champs and returning to the State Semi-Finals.

Coach Kevin “The Admiral” Whitley, and a talented coaching staff have brought a tradition of winning to Tiger Nation.


4) Letter of Commendation presented to Eagle's Landing Christian Academy Football Team, 2016 4A Private State Champions.

Whereas this honorable body commends rare athletic achievement, and gives special honor and commendation to those athletic teams who pursue such excellence that they become examples for the youth of this community.

Congratulations to ELCA's repeat 4-A Private State Championship for the second consecutive year! Finishing the season with a fantastic 14-0 record! And special honors for All State Team - Class A-Private.

We commend the Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy administration, led by Principal Doug Campbell, for your leadership and noting the ELCA mission.
