Seeking Green Front Café Stories

STOCKBRIDGE, GEORGIA- March 27 , 2019--- The Stockbridge Main Street Program is seeking stories of the Green Front Café located in the historic downtown Stockbridge. The city welcomes personal accounts from friends and neighbors of the Green Front Café located in the Tye Street Community. Individuals wishing to share stories about the late Mrs. Carrie Mae Hambrick, the former owner and operator, or other memories of the classic neighborhood café should email mainstreet@cityofstockbridge-ga.gov or call (678) 833-3325. The collection of the community stories is a part of the Stockbridge Stories which is a compilation of oral histories for the City of Stockbridge that are rooted in local culture, encourage reflection, motivate participation and inspire further exploration.

"Ms. Carrie Mae Hambrick was a beacon in this community, " said Councilman Alphonso Thomas, City Council Liaison for the Stockbridge Main Street Advisory Board. "She brandished love for everyone. Her Green Front Café was the central meet up spot in Stockbridge for years. She offered wholesome food and great conversation. Every person felt welcomed in her popular café. Her constant generosity defined her as  a true servant to the community at large. I believe that this compilation of stories by the Stockbridge Main Street Program will highlight the community unity she demonstrated for the world to see. Join me and others in sharing fond memories of Mrs. Hambrick and the historic Green Front Café."

Stockbridge will celebrate 100 years of cityhood in 2020. The City of Stockbridge continues to strive to be the most progressive business and family oriented community in Metropolitan Atlanta with a strong focus on enhanced quality of life initiatives which promote a sustainable "live, work, play" environment. The City of Stockbridge believes that people are the most valuable asset in delivering services to citizens.
